The Modulo Rondeau is a piece of sound art.

It is best viewed on a large screen zoomed out so you can see all the characters at once
(ctrl+minus).

Click a character to play a sound and click it again to pause the sound.

Try combining these sounds to create your own compositions.

This sound art is generated by 120+ pupils from 7+ schools.

In July 2021, visual artist Bryony Simcox and sound artist Jack McNeill worked with these young people
as part of the Orchestras for All Modulo program.

The pupils responded to Purcell's 'Rondeau'.

The characters that you see are the young people's drawings, each reflecting the character of the Rondeau.

The young people used plasticine and drawings to create 'graphic scores'.

The graphic score
(image above) is a collage generated combining these creations.

The young people also recorded performances using everyday objects to 'play' their graphic scores.

The sounds that you hear are these recordings.
